Teaching Skills to Improve Kids' Mental Health
Children and teens are experiencing record high levels of sadness, suicide risk, and mental health concerns.
What are we, as parents and advocates, going to do about this?
I believe the answer lies in providing children with the education and skills necessary to confidently identify and cope with their emotions and navigate social interactions.
In therapy, we explore and process situations that cause big feelings and negative thoughts. This process gives children the opportunity to learn skills to respond effectively in those moments.
In educational opportunities, such as courses, kids can navigate modules at their own pace and learn about mental health topics alongside their parents. Learning these skills at home, surrounded by their supportive community, provides a unique opportunity for growth! This shared learning experience can transform not only their understanding but also their entire family dynamic.
Let's commit to doing better for our children.
I believe that by providing children with education and skills, we will see more children confidently feeling and responding to their emotions.
I believe that knowledge is power, but practice makes it possible for our brains to learn new skills.
Let's equip children with the skills they need to manage their feelings confidently and challenge unhelpful thoughts.
I believe this is the key to raising children who feel successful navigating social interactions, academic pressures, big feelings, and everything else in between.
